Relationships and the Determinants of Sustainable Land Management Technologies in North Gojjam Sub-Basin, Upper Blue Nile, Ethiopia

Sustainable land management (SLM) is a leading policy issue in Ethiopia. However, the adoption and continuous use of SLM technologies remain low. This study investigates interrelationship adopted key factors farmers’ decisions to North Gojjam sub-basin Upper Blue Nile. The was based on investigation cross-sectional data obtained from 414 randomly selected rural household heads, focus group discussions, informant interviews. Descriptive statistics Econometric models (i.e., Multivariate Probit Poisson regression) were used analyze quantitative data, while content analysis method for qualitative analysis. Results indicate that at least one type technology implemented by 94% farm households sub-basin. most widely chemical fertilizer, soil bund, animal manure. Most complement each other. Farm size, family male-headed household, local institutions, perception erosion, livestock total income, extension service increased probability technologies. Plot fragmentation, age, plot distance, off-farm market good fertile discourage To scale up against degradation, it important consider households’ demographic characteristics, capacity households, plot-level related relevant specific being promoted.
